What You'll Experience

Arrive at Your Pace

Come in, choose a comfortable place and take a little time to settle.

Our facilitators will welcome you and explain what is happening. There are no forced introductions and no expectation to start talking straight away.

Connect Through Shared Interests

Choose from relaxed activities such as craft, LEGO, puzzles, chess, connection cards and side-by-side gaming.

You can join a group, spend time with one person or enjoy an activity quietly on your own.

Join In Your Way

Chat, listen, create, observe, stim, wear headphones, take breaks or step outside when you need to.

You do not have to participate in every activity or stay for the entire session. Being present is enough.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Sometimes all it takes is finding a room where you don't have to explain yourself.

Sydney Neuro Hangz is a welcoming monthly social gathering for neurodivergent adults and those who feel at home in neuro-affirming spaces.

Whether you're coming to make new friends, reconnect with familiar faces or simply enjoy being around people who understand, you're welcome exactly as you are.

No pressure.

No awkward icebreakers.

No expectations.

Sydney Neuro Hangz is for neurodivergent adults aged 18 and over, including autistic, ADHD and AuDHD adults, people with other neurodivergent experiences, and adults who are still exploring what neurodivergence means for them.

Friends, family members and support workers are welcome to attend alongside a participant when their presence helps that person feel comfortable and supported..

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We understand the importance of clarity and are here to provide answers to your most common queries.

What are Neuro Awesome events?

Neuro Awesome events are safe, low-pressure gatherings designed by and for neurodivergent people (and allies). They’re about building connection, friendship, and community in ways that feel comfortable and authentic.

Who can come?

Our events are open to neurodivergent adults of all ages and experiences, as well as allies who respect our values of inclusion, consent, and safety.

Do I have to join in all the activities?

Not at all. 💜 Our events are self-paced. You choose what feels right for you — whether that’s joining a game, having a chat, or simply relaxing in a quiet space.

What if I feel anxious or need a break?

We’ve got you. Every event has quiet zones and sensory-considerate spaces where you can step away and recharge. Our facilitators are always nearby if you’d like support.

Is this a dating event?

Neuro Awesome began with the idea of helping neurodivergent people find love, and that’s still part of our journey. But our events are broader than dating — they’re about connection in all forms: friendship, community, and belonging.

What about consent and safety?

Consent and safety are at the heart of everything we do. You’re always in control of your experience: no one will pressure you to share, participate, or connect in ways that don’t feel right. Respectful behaviour is expected from all participants.

Do I need to bring anything?

Just yourself! For some events you might want to bring water, a hat, or sunscreen if outdoors. We’ll include any special notes in your event confirmation.

How much do tickets cost?

Ticket prices vary depending on the event. We keep costs as low as possible thanks to our volunteers and sponsors, and your ticket goes directly toward making our events safe and accessible.

Can I come if I don’t know anyone?

Yes! Many people come on their own, and our facilitators are there to help with introductions and icebreakers. You’ll never be left out.

How are events supported?

Neuro Awesome is powered by volunteers, local businesses, and community sponsors. We’re grateful to partners like The Robertson Hotel, Growwild Wildflower Farm, The Fold Southern Highlands, and others who believe in building inclusion.
